Running alongside the Facebook Groups listed below The Guild will encourage newcomers to this wonderful art to progress at their leisure with the help of more experienced Luthiers.

The three Facebook Groups for where you can obtain assistance are:

If you need specific help on part of your work join the Mentoring scheme in each Group and someone will help you on a "one to one" basis.

Diplomas will be awarded on completion of each Grade and whilst this is not for the faint hearted as achieving the last Grade will require a lot of work it will ensure you have the basics and knowledge to hopefully further your Guitar Making skills.

All Grades are now open for Applications. Other Grades will come on stream as soon as possible.

You MUST have some experience before applying as this is NOT for complete novices and is NOT an instruction course.

As well as Tools, Materials and, in Grade One, a Guitar Kit to build it is also recommended that you have the following to complete your Notes, Thesis/Submission and Pictures:

• Computer
• Digital Camera or Smartphone

The Grades are as follows:

GRADE ONE

Basic introduction into Guitar building requiring the completion of a Guitar Kit from assembly, finishing and installation of hardware and electrics. Once achieved to a satisfactory level you will be awarded the Diploma of Guitar Building - Grade 1 and be installed into Grade Two for which you will need to pay for if not already done so. You will be a Member of the Guild as an Apprentice.

GRADE TWO

On completion of Grade One you will now be required to make a Guitar Body from scratch and finish and install hardware and electrics. You can add a purchased neck and hardware if required or use the items you used in Grade 1. Once achieved to a satisfactory level you will be awarded a Diploma of Guitar Building - Grade 2 and be installed into Grade 3 for which you will need to pay for if not already done so. You will be a Member of the Guild as a Journeyman.

GRADE THREE

This is the final Level for this Guild and you will be required to make a body and neck from scratch and finish and install hardware and electrics. Once achieved you will be awarded a Diploma of Guitar Building - Grade 3. You will also become a Member of the Guild as a Master Luthier.

To enrol in this Course please complete the Application Form. Once received and assessed if you qualify you will be entered onto Grade 1.
